Lyrics

BEATZ IN MY SALAD

Put da spinach on the bottom cuz that's where it starts
Pull the kalamata olives and the artichoke hearts
witcha flax seeds waxin' up in here
vinaigrette get it wet all set to disappear

Yeah word to the shrooms, tell 'em come on down
sprinkle crunchy little gluten-free noodles around
like poetry waitin' in your salad bowl,
pretty local-grown veggies make it good for the soul

Cucumbers, baby bean sprouts
Avocado, gets a shout-out
Getcha pomegranate seeds sprinkled on the top, uh,
turnip the BEET so dat salad goes POP

HOOK: b-b-BEETZ IN MY SALAD, BEATZ IN MY SALAD...

Ozark Natural Foods is the local co-op
Their salad bar is bangin', yo, it just don't stop.
Check out the fresh garlic and the edamame
A party on my plate, make my body say, HEY!

You know we're rock stars and we're on the road,
(triplet pattern)
Don't want no fast food, no truck stop, where is Trader Joe's
or some Whole Foods, where the people care
about corn syrup, they don't sell it there.

A farmer's market might even be the best
freshest local produce, organic and blessed.
If you know where you're going, look 'em up online
They make a soul say yum yum yum yum everytime.

HOOK

Think twice about the cans sitting on your shelf.
Choose the farm grown berries that you picked yourself.
Take the kids to the market and get them some
cuz half our babies don't know where their food comes from.

Skip the trip to the supercenter up all night.
You know the little local markets gonna do it up right.
We got no food if we got no farms so show the farmers some love
when you go to get your salad on.

We shoppin in the sun in the market stalls
where the fruits and the veggies really got it going on.
I'm talking so many colors it'll make your head spin,
for a salad stone soup with your mama an' them.

Holla at your girls,
Holla at your boys,
Everybody bringing' an ingredient of choice.
Cuz it's tribe and community that don't stop.
Share the food, share the wealth keep the love on top!

HOOK

Some of us eat da meat, some of us eat da cheese.
Some of us are vegan and gluten free.
There's a raw food movement where the veggies go crunch
The grains go crunch, at dinner, snacks and brunch.

Lucky us to have the food that fits our needs
But there's something else important and i wanna plant the seed.
We can not write this flow wo telling the truth.
there are thousands and millions that do not have enough food.

Look around the globe, there's a world-wide fight
for fair labor, equal pay and equal rights.
It's not just far away, but in our backyard, too
It's sick that there are people here wo enough food.

No need to feel guilty, just recognize.
Find your local food bank and pile the shelves high.
"We all become important when we realize our goal
should be to figure out our role within the context of the whole."

Can I just say that I'm a lucky girl,
Grateful and humble wishing for the world
A big salad bar where we call could meet
Piling our plates with greens and…
